Job Title: Technical Writer (Contract-to-Hire)

Employment Type: 12-Month Contract-to-Hire

Compensation: $24 – $56/hr W2

Location: Hybrid – Candidates must live within 200 miles of San Antonio, TX for occasional on-site meetings (rare). Travel is not reimbursed . Candidates in San Antonio, Austin, or Houston are encouraged to apply.

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Technical Writer to support a large-scale digital transformation initiative, including an intranet redesign and migration of legacy content into Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). This individual will be responsible for creating and refining user-facing documentation, web content, and micro-copy that improves usability and enhances the overall digital experience for employees and customers.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with cross-functional teams—designers, engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders—to translate technical concepts into clear, accessible, and user-focused content.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, edit, and optimize web content, micro-copy, and documentation to support intranet and digital tool adoption.
  • Migrate legacy content and PDFs into AEM while maintaining accessibility standards and style guidelines.
  • Collaborate with design, marketing, and technical teams to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency in content.
  • Translate technical and developer-oriented information into concise messaging for end users.
  • Support UX objectives by creating and updating content for prototypes and online tools.
  • Produce step-by-step guides, process flows, and training materials for new platforms.
  • Provide editorial support by reviewing and improving content created by other team members.
  • Use analytics and feedback to refine content and enhance usability.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 2+ years of professional experience writing content for web, mobile, or digital platforms.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to create clear, concise, user-friendly content.
  • Demonstrated experience as a copy editor.
  • Portfolio or work samples showcasing user-centered writing and digital content development.

Preferred Skills:

  • 2+ years collaborating on cross-functional teams to deliver digital projects.
  • Hands-on experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
  • Familiarity with content creation/editing tools such as Figma.
  • Knowledge of SEO principles and best practices.
